Strategic Threat Assessments in International Counter-Terrorism

· October 6, 2025

In an era of complex and evolving security threats, the ability to assess, anticipate, and respond to terrorism risks is a vital skill for professionals in intelligence, law enforcement, and international security. Strategic Threat Assessments in International Counter-Terrorism provides a structured and practical introduction to how analysts evaluate terrorist threats, develop intelligence insights, and inform strategic decision-making.

This course explores the principles, methodologies, and frameworks behind modern threat assessment, covering both traditional and emerging forms of terrorism โ€” including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) threats. Participants will gain a strong grounding in how intelligence is collected, analysed, and applied within international counter-terrorism cooperation, as well as the ethical and institutional challenges that accompany this work.

Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and practical exercises, learners will develop the analytical mindset and critical reasoning skills necessary to interpret complex information, identify patterns, and assess risks in real-world security contexts.
